FAQs

Where do you source the units from?

We buy the units in bulk from a trusted set of asset management and IT recycling companies. All of our units are off-lease corporate stock. We source computers from all over the UK and Europe as well as the USA.

Were the units broken and have been repaired?

No. The units were removed from the companies they came from in working condition. They have been professionally cleaned and made as visually pleasing as possible, before being reloaded with new genuine software. What's more, any parts that fail our stringent all-points test are replaced not repaired.

Do you also sell new computers?

No, we are a refurbisher and are committed to sustainable computing. We offer computers that are capable of running for another three-to-five years a new lease of life. This keeps the environmental impact of computer production to a minimum.

Did you know that 80% of the CO2 that a computer emits into the atmosphere during its life are emitted during manufacture? So keep them running as long as possible. By buying a RefurbThat computer not only are you getting great computers at a great price, you are helping the environment.

You sometimes have the same computer multiple times on the site. Why?

There are lots of variations of specification that will fulfill a wide range of user requirements. We try to provide as many options possible.

Are the computers you sell always the same specification as you show on the site?

Largely yes; however the specification quoted is always a minimum specification. It is possible that you will receive a computer that is of higher specification than the one you ordered, however it is not possible that it will be of lower specification.

Why should I buy a refurbished computer?

Apart from the obvious price advantage of buying refurbished computers, you are also buying business computers built to an exceptionally-high quality to perform for years to come either in a business, educational, or charity environment, or, for that matter, in the home.

Why should I buy from RefurbThat?

RefurbThat is one of a select few Microsoft Authorised Refurbishers in the UK. This not only guarantees the quality of the computer but also the legality of the software, giving you access to all the Microsoft updates and support you would receive when you buy a new computer. In short, buying a RefurbThat computer gives you the same “out of the box” customer experience as buying a new one.

What comes in a RefurbThat box?

It varies, of course, depending on what you have purchased from us. All desktop computers come with a brand new mains lead. If the product you bought comes with a keyboard and mouse, they will be in the box. If not, you can buy them for a very reasonable price on our site and have them shipped all together. Laptops have their power supply with them.

What software comes with a RefurbThat computer?

As a minimum, all of our computers come with Windows 7 Pro or Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed.

Where do I find the product key to license the operating system?

On the base of the computer you will find two COA’s (Certificate of Authentication) from Microsoft. One is the original COA that came with the computer when it was new. You will also see a brown one with www.refurbthat.com on it; the product key is on this brown COA.

Only refurbished computers with this second brown COA have genuine Microsoft Software on board. Any computer without the second COA must be considered to have been illegally licensed.

Do you guarantee the batteries?

All the batteries are tested before being shipped to you and will hold a minimum of 50% of its original capacity. We cannot guarantee the life of the battery supplied beyond the first 30 days.

Does the computer come with a warranty?

Yes it does. As a standard we offer 1 year Return to Base warranty unless otherwise stated. If not it will be due to the age of the computer. However the minimum warranty we offer is 3 months.

Which method of payment do you accept?

We take all major credit cards on our site. If you are having any problems shopping online, you can call us during normal office hours and pay over the phone. Equally, if you’d like to pay by bank transfer you can also call us to arrange that as well.

How long will it take for my computer to arrive after I’ve ordered it?

Normally if the order is placed before 2pm on a work day, it will be with you the next day. We usually use Interlink Express. However for larger orders we can ship with pallets or for small items we use the Royal Mail.

What do I do if I have a problem with the computer?

Firstly give us a call on 01670 732 502. Once we have located your order in our system, just ship it back to us and we’ll either fix it or replace it with the same or a better computer.

I have a promotional code, how do I redeem it?

Just put the promotional code in the box on the payment page and you will receive the discount or extra goods associated with the promotional code.
